Toubkal Trip Overview
Mount Toubkal is high is North Africa’s highest peak, found in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco. It offers a unique challenge with regards to altitude, with 40% less oxygen than there is at sea level. Our team can prepare you for this considerable physical challenge, and will be there to support and encourage all the way through, which is especially important if this is not something you’ve experienced before.
Toubkal is three mammoths on our microadventure scale, and presents an exciting excursion for comfortable trekkers with a good base rate of physical fitness. If you’re not sure of you’re ready for this kind of adventure, we can tailor you a programme of physical training that will help you to gain the confidence, strength, and physical ability to do so. All our training programmes are bespoke specifically to you as an individual and the needs of your group, an our trainers at The Commando Temple, having completed these trips alongside your mountain leader, will know exactly which areas to work on with you.
Mount Toubkal, also known as Jebel Toubkal, is best experienced in the summer months, when the temperatures range from 28 to 37 degrees celsius. With minimal rainfall, and a balmy 12 degree night time temperature, this Moroccan trip provides not only an escape from city hustle and bustle, but also from the sometimes less than forgiving temperatures of hikes in the UK. Additionally, if you haven’t partaken in climbing or hiking in this sort of heat before, this will also be factored into the physical preparation portion of your booking with Mammoth Exploration.
